The largest net bid of the wave is the Apex and takes the whole jackpot: 70% of every buy & sell fee since the last payout. Empty wave? The jackpot rolls over.

The Sacrifice
The smallest bid is sacrificed — but only if it sits below the safe threshold (50% of the wave's average bid) and the wave has at least 2 bidders. 30% of its wave tokens are burned.
